Tapered 1"Front Differential Drop Spacers

These spacers are different from every other differential drop spacer being made.  All other spacers are cut with 90 degree angles on each end, basically perfectly square cylinders.  The problem with cylinder type spacers or a stack of washers is that the front differential  drop only lowers the front side of the differential, not the rear.  When lowered the front mount rubber mounting bushings are obviously now angled.  These spacers are cut with a taper on one side and 90 degrees on the other so the bushings lay flat.  Any diff drop spacer or stack of washers will "work" but if you want a spacer that even Griot's Garage would sell this is it.  These are difficult to cut and for every 2 good ones I get there are 2 that wind up in the trash.  Front differential drop spacers improve the CV angles on your front axle shafts after a lift has been installed.  DOES NOT lower your skid plate or require you to slot the holes and use longer bolts.  The process for retaining the stock skid plate height with the stock skid plate is covered in the install instructions.

Take a look and see why the Sonoran Steel Fabrication L.L.C. design is superior.  It's more than obvious that the front mounts are not correctly supported with any other option.

Cylinder spacer is seen on the top and tapered spacer is seen on the bottom.  Included with the spacers are two eight inch long, 1/2" fine thread grade 8 bolts, graded washers & Stover lock nuts.  Everything you need to drop your front differential and retain the factory angles on the differential  bushings.

More info on differential drop spacers can be found here.

After years of building the spacers above, we have come up with a more cost effective way of doing the exact same thing.  Originally the spacers were cut out of a 2 1/4" wide puck of solid steel.  This puck matched the size of the bushing.  After cutting my truck up during the Dana 44 conversion, the frame section has a sleeve that supports sleeves in the front differentials leading two bushings.  We have re-designed this part, instead of covering the bushings which is not necessary, we now simply extend the frame sleeve down 1" with a taper at one end.  The new spacers are easier to make so a 33% price reduction was implemented.  The new spacers are cut from 1/4" wall DOM (drawn over mandrel) tube, which means they have no welded seam.  These spacers are considerably thicker and beefier than the frame sleeves.  The spacers are marked with a dot for the top and front, this ensures that you will install them correctly and orient the taper in the correct direction.  Included are two spacers, two grade 8 fine thread bolts, two fine thread stover nuts & four washers.   The spacers themselves will be painted black with Rustolimum hammered when you receive them.

Actual frame section of a 1996-2002 4Runner.  Here you can see the sleeve that the bolt goes through.  What the diff drop does is extend this sleeve.    Here you can see the sleeves in the front diff mounts.  Once again the kit simply extends these sleeves and provides a longer bolt.

This kits fits 1996-2002 4Runners & 1995.5 to 2004 Tacoma Pickups.
